Back in the history, Arab Muslims attacked the Persian territory in 633 A.D. After years of war and resistance, Persia was utterly conquered by Arabs.Since then, Iran has had a constant relationship with Islam and Islamic culture. And language, as a cultural element is not an exception. There is a strong bond between Farsi and Arabic terms that it is quite impossible to discriminate between Farsi and Arabic terms. For instance, Ferdowsi, a great epic poet, tried to use as few Arabic words as possible in his masterpiece, Shahname. Despite this fact, there are still three percent of Arabic words in Shahname.Raised in a Muslim family, I have been accustomed to Islamic culture. There are many instances in Quran that people are obliged to "strive in the path of God" which is referred to as "Jihad".Jihad has many definitions in an Islamic context, such as struggle against your evil inclinations or efforts to a moral society. However, it is mostly associated with war. In an Islamic school, we were taught that God will benefit anyone who would stirve in his path.However, jihad has an extremely negative cootation in the press.
